Is it any good?

YES

It’s not THAT good.

There. I said it. I just want to kill the hype a bit. I’ve seen early reactions on twitter saying that it was better than The Empire Strikes Back. But it’s not. It’s overly long, and it drags in the front end. It feels like it’s just going through the motions in the first half and is somewhat ambivalent about the story it’s telling.

BUT, when it’s good, it is unimaginably stunning. You get to see Luke as the kind of Jedi Master you wished he was in Return of the Jedi. You get more color and texture from Kylo Ren. There are incredible moments from newbies like Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) and her sister Paige. Finn gets some great moments. And Leia feels far more like Princess Leia from A New Hope than the weird, wilting flower from The Force Awakens. And in a series where even the crappy ones looked amazing, this might have some of the most gorgeous shots of any of the films.

It is well worth the price of admission, but you have to kinda endure that first part.

For more, wait for my next/real review. These were just impressions. Let me know what you think.
